Earnings Ledger & Referral Reporting
TinyRefs records referral earnings in a ledger and produces reports and exports. This page explains what gets written to the ledger, how reports are generated, and how exports fit into external payout workflows.
The focus is the reporting output and how it fits into finance and operations.
What the earnings ledger is
The earnings ledger is a data record of credited referral activity. Each credited event writes a row to the ledger. Each earning appears as a line item tied to a referrer, a referred customer, the triggering event, and the resulting amount.
What gets recorded
- Referrer identifier and referred customer identifier
- Event that triggered credit
- Amount or percentage, plus currency
- Timestamp and status such as eligible or credited
What does not happen
TinyRefs does not send payouts, schedule payments, or handle tax forms. The ledger is a reporting output only. Payouts run through your existing systems.
How reports are generated
Reports are derived from ledger entries over a date range. You can group results by referrer, by referred customer, or by rule. The report output matches the events and rules you defined.
Totals per referrer
Summaries by referrer show total earnings for a period. This is the most common view for payout runs.
Breakdown by customer or event
Line item detail includes the referred customer and the event that triggered credit. This supports audit and reconciliation workflows.
For the event model that powers the ledger, see event-based referral tracking.
Exports and payout workflows
Exports support finance and operations workflows. Teams use them to run payout batches, reconcile with internal billing, and keep audit trails. Output rows align with your billing records.
Payout preparation
Export a report for a period and use it to calculate payments. The ledger provides the supporting rows that explain why a referrer earned each amount.
Reconciliation
Match report rows with invoices or other business records. This keeps referral payouts aligned with your source billing system.
Example referral earnings report
The table below shows three referrers, a reporting period, earnings, and the rule or event that applied.
| Referrer | Period | Earnings | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Morgan | Jan 1 to Jan 31 | $42.50 | 1% of invoice.paid |
| Jordan Chen | Jan 1 to Jan 31 | $18.00 | Flat credit on trial conversion |
| Sam Rivera | Jan 1 to Jan 31 | $64.25 | 10% after billing cycle 3 |

Common questions
Does TinyRefs send payouts?
No. TinyRefs produces reports and exports. Payouts run through your own systems.
Can I export reports per month?
Yes. Reports are generated over a date range, so monthly exports are a standard use case.
Can I audit why someone earned money?
Yes. Each ledger row ties the referrer, the customer, the triggering event, and the rule that applied. This makes audits and disputes straightforward.
How do refunds or chargebacks work?
Adjustments depend on the events you send. If your billing system emits refund or reversal events, those can be evaluated against your rules and reflected in the ledger.
Reporting outputs, not payout automation
The earnings ledger is the source of referral reporting. Use it to reconcile with billing and keep an audit trail.
